Mr. Van Cauwenbergh started ballet at the age of 8 at the Municipal Ballet School (stedelijk instttuut voor ballet)
in Antwerp.
He trained there for 10 years to become a professional dancer and attained a high school diploma.

1976-1977 - soloist, Royal Ballet of Flanders, Belgium (ballet director: Jeanne Brabants).
1978-1984 - 1st principal dancer, London Festival Ballet - now English National Ballet (ballet directors: Dame Beryl Grey and John Field).
1984-1987 - 1st principal dancer, Royal Ballet of Flanders, Belgium (ballet director: Valery Panov).
1987-1989 - 1st principal dancer, State Theatre Bern, Switzerland (ballet directors: Ricardo Duse and Reda Sheta).
1989-1992 - 1st principal dancer, State Theatre in Luzern, Switzerland (ballet director: Ben Van Cauwenbergh).
1992-2007 - Ballet director, choreographer, 1st principal dancer, ballet teacher and coach at the Hessisches State Theatre, Wiesbaden.
1976: Gold Medal "Chanson d´or", Brussels.
1976: Gold Medal "Prix de Lausanne", Switzerland.
1976: Silver Medal International Ballet Competition Varna, Bulgaria.
1984: Nominated as best dancer from " Dance and Dancers" magazine for his role of Baron Tuzenbach in "Three Sisters" Chor.: V. Panov.
Was coached by Maurice Bejart for "Romeo and Juliet".
Worked with Sir Rudolf Nurejev for seven years, dancing in his productions of "Romeo and Juliet" as Romeo and also as Paris and in "The Sleeping Beauty" as Prince Florimund.
Performed together with R. Nurejev in The Met (New York). Nurejev as Romeo and Van Cauwenbergh as Paris.
Coached by Sir Glen Tetley for "Sphinx" and he also created "Pulcinella" for Van Cauwenbergh.
Coached by Anton Dolin.
Took part in the film about Nijinski (director: Herbert Ross) together with Jeremy Irons, Alan Bates, Carla Fracci, Leslie Brown, Georg de la pena etc.
Coached by Birgit Cullberg for her productions of "Romeo and Juliet" and "Miss Julie".
Coached by Alicia Markova for "Les Sylphides".
Premiere from "Onegin" (John Cranko) in London for the Royal Family.
